Measuring principle
The shock wave generated by a passing supersonic projectile or a missile is detected by an array of pressure sensors installed on or close to the target.

The amplitude and the time differences from the shockwave measured by and between the different sensors together with the firing mission parameters in the scoring station software are used to calculate the shortest distance between the target and the projectile (the miss distance), and in what angular position (sector) the projectile passed.

The scoring data are presented in real time on a colour graphic computer display. Data transmission between sensors (MDI) and display (scoring station) is via a radio link.


Speed:  = target speed (m/s)
Min slant distance:  = the shortest distance with which the target passes the gun (m)
Open fire distance:  = the intercept distance for the first round (m)
Target altitude:  = target altitude above the sea level (m)
Separation:  = distance between the MDI nose and aiming point
Course:  = target coming from left or from the right
Cease fire distance:  = calculated by the scoring station software
